Dubs land 4 out of 6

The Leinster stroke play proved a memorable weekend with Dublin players winning the senior and inter sections both ladies and gents.
In the ladies inter Sandra Keogh proved a worthy winner with a display of sheer quality and with Evelyn O Gorman in 3rd place the Dubs were flying. Catherine Fox had 2 steady rounds to secure 3rd spot in the junior ladies. The senior ladies was to prove another victory march for the irrepressible Ger Ward another day another title.
The gents were not to be outdone and Micheal Ahern set the ball rolling with a very competent display and a victory well deserved. Ross O’ Reilly had a great 2nd round to capture third spot in the juniors. The seniors produced some top class displays and with 7 dubs making the playoffs we were very hopeful. The playoffs saw JR Grangle and Keith Redmond finish on 19 under and a playoff ensued. The early exchanges saw JR take an early lead but with Keith on his game and putting superbly he gained the upper hand to secure a first stroke play title. Well done Jim Judge on finishing 3rd and to all ladies and gents for giving us a great weekend despite the inclement weather.

Dublin Under 16′s Stroke Play

We had our stroke play for the under 16′s on Saturday 25th June in Lucan. The course was in good order and we had some fine displays from all who played. After 36 holes in the boys section we had a tie between Craig Hennessy and Lennon Blake and a 3 hole playoff took place to decide the winner. The 2 lads produced birdies on the tricky 16th hole and when Craig birdied the 17th to gain a 1 shot lead the title was within his grasp. His par on 18 was enough to secure victory and add to his match play title he won last year. In the girls section Aoife Mahon retained her title to secure her third victory in 4 years. Our thanks to the Lucan club on hosting the event and to all who played. We also thank the mentors who look after the under 16′s for their great work throughout the year.
