Lucan take major honours at Dublin Mixed Scramble

The beautiful Portmarnock course stood up brilliantly, from the recent bad weather, to hold the first Dublin Championship of the season. As with a links course, the wind blew and made it tricky for competitors but it didn’t stop the great shots and ultimate scoring of the winners on the day.

Damien Creevy, Christopher Byrne and Tess Donovan, of the Lucan club, posted the best score of the first session with a superb 69 2/3. This held until the Lucan team of Sandra & Peter Keogh alongside Fiona Langan, posted the exact same score in the second session. Nobody else could get past this score so it went down to the b.18′s with Sandra, Peter & Fiona coming out on top by the narrowest of margins. Congratulations to them.

It wasn’t to end there for the Lucan club with the best gross on the day going to them also with a brilliant 86 from the Chairman’s team of Anthony Malone, Philip Sweeney & Tracey Smith.

The RGSC team of Miriam & Terry Salmon alongside Veronica Kynes picked up the 1st 18 Nett with the host club, Portmarnock, picking up the 2nd 18 Nett through the efforts of the Fitzpatrick family (Tony, Ann Marie and M Fitzpatrick).

Well done to everyone involved for making it a great day. Congrats to our winners and a big thankyou to our sponsor Payzone and the host club, Portmarnock, who gave up their course for a day and looked after everyone so brilliantly. Thankyou.

Dublin Board announces Lead Sponsor for 2018 – Payzone

The Dublin Board are delighted to announce Payzone as our Lead Sponsor for the 2018 season.

Payzone provide a range of cost effective payment solutions for clubs, schools, retailers and small businesses. Customers can register for events and pay their membership fees through Payzone’s online tools, as well as purchase mobile phone top ups, pay their bills, plus much more, through the convenience of the local store.

When thinking about potential sponsorship, the Dublin Board wanted to approach someone who operated in the same communities as ourselves and Payzone was an obvious choice. We want to thank Payzone for engaging with us, right from the start, and for ultimately trusting their brand to us and believing in our sport.

Payzone saw huge opportunity in our game and its potential and look forward to partnering with us throughout the season. This is evident with their choice to become our Lead Sponsor for the coming season.

As Lead Sponsor, Payzone will now feature on everything we do through the season, i.e. our website header & facebook page, access to our championship events, posters will display their name, Inter County advertising, flags, scorecards and much more.

Jim Deignan (CEO of Payzone) said: “We are delighted to support Dublin Pitch and Putt and to continue our commitment to work with local communities. Our contribution will go some way in helping the future development of the sport which is so heavily dependent on the efforts of clubs and volunteers.”

Anthony Malone (Dublin Board Chairman) also commented:

“We are delighted to have Payzone on board and would like to thank them very much. This partnership will allow us to further develop and grow the game in Dublin which is fantastic for everyone involved.”
