AGM 2010 Report

19/01/2010 - Dublin County Board have long and successful AGM at Sport HQ
The Officers and Delegates of Dublin County Board convened at Sport HQ last night at 8:15pm for the 2010 AGM of Dublin County Board. An excellent meeting took place with lively debate, strong reports and a great sense of enthusiasm for the sport in the room. The meeting proved to be a long one, lasting close to three and a half hours which shows the consideration given to each and every item on the agenda. The officers of Dublin County Board are grateful to every delegate for their efforts at the AGM and look forward to a successful 2010. Read on for full report.
ReportsThe Dublin County Board had a full delegation of Officers elected in 2009, each of whom would present a report to the County Board.
Unfortunately, 2009 County Board Treasurer Gary Healy (Loughlinstown) was unable to attend the AGM and as such there was no financial report available.
All other officers were in attendance and read their reports, our Honorary Secretary Derek Carroll (RGSC) reporting a good year for Dublin County Board while Competition Secretary Joe Flanagan (Glenville) gave a detailed report on the results of our 2009 competitions. Joe also outlined the entry levels for 2009 against those from 2008 which
seems to indicate that interest in our competitions is growing for the most part.
League Secretary Breda Boyle (Glenville) gave an excellent report discussing each section of our County Board leagues and spoke on the positives and negatives of some of our new ideas in 2009 such as the open
league draw and the strokeplay leagues for senior ladies. The leagues are still extremely popular and with some minor adjustments in the coming season could be even more popular.
Registrar Dave Hayden II (Lucan) reported on the promising statistics related to the adult game in Dublin Pitch and Putt with a small decrease in Adult membership here equalling 2% of Dublin Adult Membership.
However, Dave was also disappointed to report that Juvenile registrations were down a considerable 23% on the previous year which is very worrying.
The P.R.O.'s report was present by Keith Redmond (Shandon) who discussed the healthy relationship the Dublin County Board has with a wide range of media outlets in Radio, Print and Television. Our County Board
website has been extremely popular in 2009 and will hopefully continue to grow in the coming year.
Our County Board Chairman Christy Broe (Old County) was delighted with the work done by the Officers throughout 2009 and expressed his pleasure at the full compliment of officers. 2009 was a good year for the
County Board and it's competition and Christy thanked all of the officers, clubs, delegates and members for their efforts.
Election of OfficersOnly one officership was contested at the AGM, the position of Treasurer. A letter from Gary Healy to the County Board was read in his absence while Marise Carroll (RGSC) also put her name forward for the position
should Gary be unable to carry out the role in 2010 due to ongoing commitments elsewhere. The delegates and officers of Dublin County Board agreed that the position of Treasurer was extremely important and
required full commitment. A secret ballot was held and the outcome was that Marise Carroll (RGSC) will be Dublin County Board for 2010. A very warm welcome to Marise as she becomes an official board member.
All other standing officers went forward for election and were elected unopposed.

MotionsA motion was presented by David Hayden II and Keith Redmond recommending the introduction of a trials system for selecting the Dublin Inter County teams. The system is to be decided by the officers of Dublin
County Board and presented to the County Board's next meeting. This motion induced a very healthy debate which led a vote in which the motion was passed.
Another motion presented by David and Keith proposed the introduction of a Dublin County Board Scratch Cup for the 2010 season. Again this brought about a good debate with pros and cons on both sides of the argument.
A vote on this motion led to the motion being passed.
David and Keith proposed another motion to have the Dublin Strokeplay and Matchplay be played on opposite sides of the city each year and alternate been each side. This motion was passed in a vote and as long as courses
are available the events will swap accordingly.
The final motion presented by David and Keith was to allow any Dublin Championship winner automatically qualify for the Championship the following year as long as they remain in the grade in which they won it. This motion
was passed by the voting delegates.
CPM proposed a motion that the Dublin National Matchplay return to an Open draw format with two courses used rather than North and Southside sections. This motion was passed in a vote.
ProposalsThe clubs and officers of Dublin County Board put forward a range of proposals for the upcoming Convention of the PPUI. We will be detailing this further in the weeks leading up to Convention at the end of February.
In ClosingThe officers of Dublin County Board would like to thank all the delegates who attended last night for the time they give to our sport. We would also like to thank all the clubs who nominated us for re-election. We are all
now looking forward to working for the future of the sport in 2010 and hope that this coming season will be a huge success.
If you have any questions or comments then don't hesitate to get in touch, good luck for the coming season and we look forward to seeing you out on the course.
