DCB Meeting 22/02/2010

24/02/2010 - Dublin County Board meeting discusses key issues
The Dublin County Board convened on Monday night for a meeting at Old County, during which key decisions were made on our Inter County Selection process, Leagues system and County Board Scratch Cup. There were also lengthy discussions of motions ahead of the upcoming Convention of the Pitch and Putt Union Of Ireland.
Some good news that emerged at the beginning of the meeting relates to the issues around our Treasurers position and financial reports. Full accounts for the 2009 season are now with our auditors and will be made available to all clubs as soon as they are available. The Board is confident that this should see us back on a stable footing in this area for the future under the watchful eye of our new Treasurer Marise.
Two clubs submitted applications in writing to host the first Dublin County Board Scratch Cup this season, a vote was held and Shandon defeated Portmarnock by 13 votes to 7. Our chairman Christy Broe thanked both clubs for their enthusiasm and said that should the Dublin County Board Scratch Cup continue in 2011, Portmarnock should be given the opportunity to host it if they wish to.
The Dublin County Board Scratch Cup @ Shandon takes place on Saturday, July 3rd 2010.
Another key decision discussed and made surrounded our leagues system, their were speakers for and against the idea of retaining the open draw format from 2009 and again a vote was held. The result means that we will return to a North and South draw in 2010, with the majority of clubs feeling that the travel and time commitments required to play in an Open Draw league just did not suit the majority of players.
As agreed at our AGM, a trials selection process was discussed and the Dublin County Board officers submitted a proposal document for how we best see the trials running. Club delegates each received a copy and whilst they felt the system was well thought out and comprehensive, it was their opinion that they bring the document to their clubs for consultation with players so that we can ultimately achieve the best system.
Christy Broe, Derek Carroll and David Hayden will attend convention for Dublin County Board this Saturday in Athlone.
