DCB attend PPUI Convention

01/03/2010 - Pitch and Putt Union of Ireland Convention Report

The Dublin County Board were well represented at the Convention of the PPUI last Saturday with Chairman Christy Broe, Secretary Derek Carroll and Registrar David Hayden attending on our behalf. As well as the officer representation, there was a good attendance from Dublin clubs and the convention proved to be an excellent one for Dublin.

Dublin maintained representation on the National Executive Council as Eamonn Birchall (Shandon) was re-elected as the Development Officer of the PPUI. Eamonn was a stand out speaker for the NEC at Convention and his outstanding report and work with the Development Committee saw he receive glowing praise from the delegates. Congratulations to Eamonn on his re-election.

Also continuing his representation of Dublin on NEC will be Michael Murphy (Old County) who is a long time Secretary of the Union and is one of the best known people in Pitch and Putt in Ireland. Congratulations to Michael.

DCB would like to congratulate Portmarnock Pitch and Putt club on receiving a special recognition award from the Development Committee as they received second place in the Club of the Year awards. Portmarnock is one of the finest courses in Ireland with exceptional greens and a true links course which is very rare in our sport.

David Crum received the award on behalf of Portmarnock and we will provide some photos and further details later.

A full report on Convention is available at the PPUI website here: http://www.ppui.ie/content/comp/news.php?action=view_article&article_uid=1043

Dublin County Board would like to finally congratulate Glenville member and outgoing President of the PPUI Frank Smith on his excellent term as President. We would also like to wish Frank the very best for the future and wish him the best of luck as he seeks to become FIPPA President.
